Let me start by saying I apologize for not having any pictures to show for this recipe, but it is pretty easy.
Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
3 cans of beans drained and rinsed (I used 1 can black beans, 2 cans pinto beans)
1 can crushed tomatoes (I put mine through the food processor as my boys don’t like tomato chunks)
1 cup of beef broth or water
1 small can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
a dash of cayenne pepper (more or less depending on how spicy you like things)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Brown the ground beef in a pan, add the onion and saute for about 5 minutes. Spray the crockpot with cooking spray for easy cleanup later. Add the ground beef/onion mixture along with the remaining ingredients. Stir until everything is combined. Cook on low for 8 hours.
Serve with the following for toppings: sliced green onions, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream. You can also serve the leftovers as chili dogs, or over baked potatoes.
Enjoy!
